Dee Howl Beads
About Us

Karen and Daniel Howell began making fused glass in 1993. Shortly after that, we started lampworking. We now are mainly torchworking beadmakers, though we still enjoy fusing.

Our studio is in a wild and remote area of western New Mexico. The studio itself is the "Beadmobile". The north facing windows look out onto a mesa where we see many birds and occassional deer while listening to solar powered music and keeping warm with a wood stove. We have a two torch work area so we can work together.

We have been living on our remote desert homestead for nearly thirty years. During that time Daniel worked as a range technician for the forest service and Karen has been a fire lookout. We have become recognized authorities on water harvesting and sustainable agriculture for drylands through our work developing the forty acre site we call home. A portion of all sales goes to support ongoing research. Our site results have been shared with Mexico, Nicaragua, Botswana, Mali and interested 1st worlders.
